WHAT’S NEW IN 2010? ORIGINAL RETRO BRAND WELCOMES THE WCC!!

2 FOR BILL & K.C.

Last year the Original Retro Brand released some amazing new collections to their inventory, including the history of the NCAA Final Four Basketball tournament, and more recently the Retro Rose Bowl collection, Wolfgangs Vault Roots of Rock, and Saturday Morning TV to name a few.  Now with College football season over and NCAA hoops in full swing, what better time to introduce the schools of the basketball rich West Coast Conference to the Original Retro Brand line up.

The conference which was once known as the California Basketball Association, began in 1952 and now its teams span California, Oregon and Washington.   The WCC participates at the Division I level, and is considered to be one of the better mid-major conferences in the country.

GREAT NIGHTS AHEAD

Some of the very best players in College Basketball history have performed in the WCC.   In fact arguably the best player ever, Bill Russell, led the San Francisco Dons to back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 1955-56 with the help of another NBA Hall of Famer, K.C. Jones.   NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton laced em’ up for Gonzaga.  2-time NBA MVP and current Phoenix Suns living legend Steve Nash, and thick-rimmed, bespectacled LA Laker Kurt Rambis (current coach for Minnesota Timberwolves) starred for the Santa Clara Broncos.   Sadly, Loyola Marymount will  forever best be remembered for their run to the elite 8 in the NCAA 1990 season, when team superstar Hank Gathers (led the nation in scoring & rebounding) collapsed on the court, and soon thereafter died due to a prior heart condition.  The San Diego Toreros currently have 3 alumni with NBA coaching gigs, including Bernie Bickerstaff (Charlotte), Eric Musselman (Sacramento) and Mike Brown (Cleveland).  The Pepperdine Waves produced 3 time NBA Champion Dennis Johnson, and current NBA Rookie Patty Mills starred for the St. Mary’s Gaels who are off to a 15-2 overall record.  That leaves us with the upstart University of Portland Pilots.  The Pilots won 19 games last year for only the third time in 50 seasons, and may give Gonzaga & St. Mary’s a run for their money down the stretch.

BUCKING BEAUTIFUL

One of the very best things about the WCC, is that all of the schools have AWESOME VINTAGE graphics, and nobody brings them to you better than the Original Retro Brand.  WELCOME WCC!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the concept and half of those shirts are pretty amazing, however as a UP alumnus I can’t help but wonder how a “retro design” is based off a logo created by Nike 4 years ago… Seriously, we have a number of old school logos that would have made a very cool T-shirt…

That is just one offering for the moment. We’ll have you covered with some much older logos VERY soon…hang tight & thanks!

have to agree with DaTruRochin about the UP ‘retro’ shirt. If you had a truely retro Pilots T-shirt I would have already purchased at least a couple and spread the word to fellow Pilots. Hope to see those older logos and will be checking back.

Any chance we get to see more Dons tees? Maybe some old USF football tees?

    Undefeated. Uninvited.

Stacy – I promise to look into that for you, and advise soon – Thanks -
