WCC SPOTLIGHT: THE ORIGINAL RETRO BRAND GOES ONE-ON-ONE WITH USF MASCOT, "THE DON"

I've had the honor of interviewing Head Coach Dan Bennett from St. Mary's, Jenny Gresham from the University of Portlands Purple Pride, and Pepperdine sports announcer Tony Simeone. We covered the Torero's upset victory over the Gael's, and have given away some Original Retro Brand gear to contest winners in our Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara and Gonzaga pop quiz contests.
With the West Coast Conference Tournament ready to go off tomorrow in Vegas, we've got just one more WCC school to cover on this blog before the "Advance to the Dance" tips off. That school would be the University of San Francisco, and the official school mascot, "The Don," is who we are going to cover. This is one hombre who's Los Locos for his # 3 seeded team! Check out our little chat....
Andy: How did you end up becoming the University of San Francisco Mascot?
The Don: After years spent working as an understudy to some of the great swashbucklers of the silver screen - such as the Lone Ranger, Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman and of course, Zorro, I auditioned for the role as "The Don". I consider it an honor to represent the University of San Francisco on the court and it is definitely the highlight of my career to date.

Andy: What are some specific things that you do during the basketball games to get The Crazies ("Los Locos") of the USF Student Section to act so CRAZY?!
Andy: Do you have any aspirations to be a mascot in any of the professional sports leagues, like the Philly Fanatic, or the Phoenix Suns Gorilla?
Andy: Will you be joining the team in Vegas for the upcoming WCC tournament & if so, will you make nice with the opposing school mascots or is it all out war?
The Don: Funny you should ask. I am going to be departing campus early Thursday on a road trip to Las Vegas. I will be posing for photo ops throughout the trip and be on the lookout for pictures on our Facebook and Twitter pages. I look forward to meeting Elvis, Wayne Newton and all the biggest stars that make Vegas so great. My number one priority is getting our crowd fired up for our basketball teams competing for the conference title. I do not plan on fraternizing with opposing mascots. Once I am in the Orleans Arena, it becomes all business. Go DONS!
