  • The NEW JERSEY DEVILS featured as the Original Retro Brand COOL VINTAGE T-SHIRT OF THE DAY.

As an Islanders fan, it's tough to sit back and watch the neighborhood bullies battle it out from the sidelines.  But like any fan of the NHL, these are the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and you can't deny the Rangers-Devils is a grudge match made in hockey heaven.

And what's a classic grudge match without some good old fashioned sucker punching?  That's what happened to the frustrated Mike Rupp of the Rangers last night when he planted one (not a kiss) on Devils goalie Martin Brodeur in the 3rd period.  Rupp just couldn't deal with Brodeur and his 28 saves as the Devils won to even the Eastern Conference Finals at 2 games a piece.  Even the coaches got into screaming unpleasantries at each other...  So yes, the series is living up to the hype.  Buckle up for Game 5 at Madison Square Garden tomorrow night.

Brodeur was a virtual shield last night in thwarting the Rangers.  Thus we honor him and the Devils with the Original Retro Brand COOL VINTAGE T-SHIRT OF THE DAY.

RANGERS YIELD TO MARTY AND HIS SHIELD.

I’ll be posting a new ORB Cool Vintage T-Shirt of the Day mostly every other day during the week.  Have a shirt you’d like to see featured, or have a photo of yourself in one of our shirts you think is cool, and want to share?  Tell us what it is or send it in, and we’ll post it up!

  • "ICE & EASY" HOCKEY TRIVIA CONTEST WINNER IN; NHL CONFERENCE FINALS TAKING FORM W/SHARKS NO LONGER HAS-BEEN!

SAN JOSE FINALLY FOUND THEIR WAY

The Sharks did something they normally don’t do in the Stanley Cup Playoffs Saturday night; They won a Conference Semi-Final! 4 straight years of early departures from the playoffs (3 Conference Semis), were officially wiped from memory with a 2-1 home-sweet-home victory over the Detroit Red Wings.  A home victory for the  Boston Bruins over Philly could advance them to the Eastern Conference Finals tonight, and the Penguins can close out over Montreal tonight as well, although playing in Montreal against the pesky # 8 seeded Canadiens could easily end up with the Pens returning home for a deciding game # 7 Wednesday.  The Blackhawks couldn’t close out the Canucks on their home ice last night, and will try and end it tomorrow in Vancouver – no easy task.

    THE MAN

An easy task (as advertised) was answering the 2-part question correctly from this past Friday's "ICE & EASY" Hockey Trivia Contest. The 2-parter was this:

What was the name of the Islander goalie who was lucky enough to have 2 saves via post shots in the deciding winning game 7 against Pittsburgh, and what team did the same Islander squad play in the following round in which they almost repeated the improbable (dropped first 3 games, won the next 3 before finally losing in game 7)?

Despite a few incorrect picks for Islanders Hall of Fame Goalie Billy Smith, everybody else correctly guessed Glenn "Chico" Resch and the Philadelphia Flyers.

As always, we determined the winner of the FREE Original Retro Brand NHL T-Shirt by conducting a drawing in which we picked one name from the first ten entries that guessed correctly, and that name this week was Paul McCluskey.  I promise that Paul's plea in the comment section had nothing to do with his winning (free t-shirt!? please?! I'll be your best friend?), just the same luck Chico had against the Pens in 19980!  Congrats Paul!

Enjoy tonight's NHL Playoff action, and be sure to check back this coming Friday for another installment of the “ICE & EASY” Hockey Trivia Contest, and you may be the next winner!
