From the Original Retro Brand Student Section: We talk with Megan from Nova Nation.
You're watching a college basketball game. Then you see them. Then you HEAR them! You think they're CRAZY PEOPLE!! And that's if they're YOUR teams' student section. They're just crazy people you can't stand with every fiber of your being, when it's the other teams' student section.
With college basketball season in full swing, we've decided to call on the various youth that make up (with face & body paint) these sections, and get more of a glimpse into what their gameday & other college experiences are about by asking a few questions.
First stop: # 7 Villanova Wildcats
Student Section: Nova Nation
Student Section Case Study: Megan Hughes, Senior
ORB: Do you paint your face for every game?
Megan: Believe it or not, I've never painted my face (for a game). When we make it to the Final Four this year, I promise I will though!
ORB: I thought you'd have to paint your face at least once in awhile to sit in the Nova Nation student section?
Megan: The entire Pavillion is the student section - Nova Nation doesn't discriminate!
Megan: OMG yeah! Georgetown is probably our most hated rival, and basically the entire campus meets at Maloney's (the Unofficial Nova Nation bar) and then heads into the city to tailgate in preparation. You'll be happy to know I alternate my Original Retro Brand Nova shirts for each game (We are happy & great strategy!)! I also try and get as many of my Alpha Chi Omega sisters & friends together (Megan was "VP of Membership development" after all) so we can really get loud. For huge games like this, the games are played in Philly at the Wells Fargo Center instead of on campus.
ORB: Speaking of huge games, ESPN COLLEGE GAMEDAY visits your campus on February 12th. I fully expect you and your sorority sisters to all show up first thing in the morning with your ORB shirts on to make sure you get air time. Deal?
Megan: You get us the shirts, we'll get you the air time. Deal?
ORB: Business major? I see hitting the books has served you well, and I'll see what I can do! Here comes the last segue; seeing you'll be done hitting the books soon, what are you going to do with your life?!!
Megan: First I have to take care of my Philadelphia "Bucket List" which includes going to some of the top restaurants, visiting all of the historical spots, and most important on the list is a visit to the "Please Touch Museum" - I've passed it a million times and it looks like SO MUCH FUN! After that, I would like to work in either Public Relations or Advertising.
ORB: No doubt in our minds Megan will end up a VP in the real world, real soon!
Thanks to Megan for spending a little time away from the Pavillion and Maloney's to give us the scoop.
